Rosso di Valtellina 'Téi' Fay 2025
The Red Valtellina 'Téi' from the Fay winery is a wine with fine and juicy characteristics, thanks to aging in only steel tanks to preserve its fruit and freshness. On the nose, there are hints of underbrush fruit, delicate spices, and slight notes of violet. On the palate, it is fine, fresh, and with subtle tannins.
The wine “Téi” is a Red Valtellina that comes from Nebbiolo grapes grown near the municipality of Teglio, which in the local dialect is referred to as “téi”. Thus, the origin of the name of this label is easily revealed, which impresses with the elegance expressed on the nose and palate, where aromas and flavors progress with order and harmony, without any rough edges. Thanks to the Fay winery, one of the most important production realities in the entire Valtellina terroir.
This Red Valtellina “Téi” is made from grapes of a variety that, outside of Piemonte, finds very few areas where it can produce great wines – one of these is indeed Valtellina – the Nebbiolo. This variety grows using the guyot and sylvoz valtellinese systems, rooting in soil characterized by the presence of sand and silt. The vineyards are located about 900 meters above sea level, and are south-facing. The must obtained from pressing the grapes ferments in steel containers at controlled temperature, also undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wine then remains in steel for a few months to stabilize, until Fay begins the bottling procedures.
The Red Valtellina “Téi” produced by the Fay winery presents itself visually with a typically ruby color. The bouquet of aromas on the nose moves through an orderly combination of fruity and spicy notes, from which a delicate floral touch of violet also emerges. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, flavorful, and tasty, with a refreshing sip that develops on the palate with a slender progression thanks to the excellent craftsmanship of the tannins. The soul of Valtellina comes to life through this bottle which, among its many virtues, also shows itself to be excellent at the table, where it stylishly and elegantly accompanies land-based menus.
