"Duca Fedele" is a Valpolicella with a fresh and lively character that is aged in steel to preserve the fragrant and primary profile of the grape. The nose is rich in notes of cherry, berries, aromatic herbs, and pleasant savory sensations. On the palate, it is very smooth and pleasant, with light tannins and dynamic freshness.

The Valpolicella ‘Duca Fedele’ represents a soft and juicy expression of the Valpolicella region, crafted by the organic estate Massimago. This winery in the province of Verona is located in Mezzane di Sotto, in the eastern part of Valpolicella, an area where the owner Camilla Rossi-Chauvenet continues her family's winemaking tradition, now in its fourth generation. The name of the estate derives from the Latin “maximum agium”, an expression that originates from the area's reputation for its beauty and natural water sources since Roman times.

The Valpolicella ‘Duca Fedele’ by Massimago is a blend of the traditional grape varieties Corvina Veronese (65%), Corvinone (25%), and Rondinella (10%), grown under certified organic conditions in vineyards with a southwest exposure. After the harvest, the grapes undergo red wine vinification through alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and a brief maceration on the skins. The subsequent maturation period, which lasts for 6 months, also takes place in steel, and the wine is finally bottled and marketed after a further short period of rest in glass.

‘Duca Fedele’ Massimago Valpolicella has a vibrant ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals crisp scents of red cherry, berries, rose petals, and aromatic herbs, enriched by notes of white pepper and pleasant vegetal hints. On the palate, it is fresh and dynamic, very fragrant and easy to drink, with a fine tannic structure accompanying the juicy fruity finish. The producer recommends pairing Valpolicella ‘Duca Fedele’ with beef tartare or with aged cheeses like Monte Veronese, a delicious cow's milk cheese produced in the northern part of the province of Verona.
